Plum Tired Cocktail

I’ve been rallying SRTT Chapter Leaders a little over 9 years now.  We come from ALL parts of the world and while we are connected by our little Chapter Leader group – there has still been something missing.

Thanks to Covid (ha!) the world is learning to lean on virtual connections a little more – that’s why this month we are hosting our first ever Chapter Leader Happy Hour!  It will give our Chapter Leaders a chance to connect, talk about new things going on in SRTT, share ideas, and just get together.

I figured there’s nothing better to kick off the meeting than with a custom cocktail (or leave out the alcohol and make it a mocktail!)  Since you all can’t be a part of the meeting, I thought I’d at least share the recipe with you so you can toast us in spirit!


Plum Tired of Not Being Able To Run Together (or just “Plum Tired” for short)


  • 4 ripe plums, pitted, quartered (for plum syrup)
  • 2 Tbsp sugar (for plum syrup)
  • 2-4 large basil leaves
  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • Seltzer, to top drink
  • Lime wedge, for garnish

Plum Syrup

Remove pits from plums and cut into quarters. Add the plums and sugar to a small saucepan and bring to a boil (you may need to add a splash of water). Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the plum is soft and has broken down. This will look horrifying….. I didn’t even attempt to make it look cute.

Strain the mixture to remove any solid pieces and let cool. Store in the fridge. Whatever is left in the pan is ridiculously delicious to eat.  Ask me how I know….

Making the Cocktail

Muddle the basil leaves in a cocktail shaker.  If you are lazy like me you will just throw them in the mixer with ice and let the ice do the trick. Fill the shaker with ice; add the gin, St. Germain & plum syrup. Shake. Pour into a glass with ice and top with seltzer.  Feel free to garnish with a lime or basil leaf so you can Instagram it. Drink. Enjoy. Be happy.
