(emphasis on the might)
Moms RUN This Town has been around for 8 years now. Back in the day we rarely used the acronym MRTT because we were afraid no one would know what it stood for. It surprised me when the #mrtt hashtag took off, girls were wanting MRTT gear, and people were calling it “MRTT”….. but even some of our longest standing members, my friends and family, and others would slip up and call it MMRT – yep, two M’s.
For years I would cringe every time I saw some type MMRT or even call it MMRT… Maybe I was a little sensitive to the error, but I’ve learned to just let it go. After all, I know what they mean… *deep breath*
One beautiful thing about Moms RUN This Town though is that we change, adapt, and add to fit the needs of our members. We started off as “moms only” – but realized we wanted ALL women to join us so we added SRTT (She RUNS This Town). When dad’s wanted to join us we added FARTT (Fathers Also RUN This Town) and SHARTT (Spouses/Husbands Also RUN This Town).
So it’s time folks…. Today we will add another acronym to our running family. Lets give a strong welcome to all the runners who fit into our newest sister club – MMRT – Moms MIGHT Run Tomorrow.
You guessed it, a running club for those ladies who really want to run…. but… well you know it’s more or less a strong maybe than a “see you there”.
These are the ladies who see the group run posted and respond with “what time?” and then disappear for the rest of the night and respond the next day with “sorry didn’t see the time posted”. And for those gals with the last minute text message of “can’t make it today, just found out my dog ancestry kit came in the mail so gotta tackle that”. We are the ladies that lay out TWO flat mamas… running clothes and the more likely frumpy “I’m not getting off my sofa” pajama pants.

It’s ok ladies. There’s no shame in being a member of MMRT. You are TRYING. Every day is full of Mights and Maybes for you. And that’s better than a NO, am I right?? And we want to make sure you feel like a part of the club so we are coming out with a whole line of MMRT gear that you can either run in,…. or not. Your choice!

All joking aside, if you made it this far, and if MMRT seems to resonate with your current mindset – consider this a CHALLENGE. Head to your local chapter’s facebook group RIGHT NOW and tell them you are considering a MMRT membership and you need help getting BACK to MRTT/SRTT! See if you can find someone to hold you accountable…. even if for ONE single run, jog, trot, walk, hike, or stroll. MRTT believes in you 😉
